I'd be much happier with a refined adaptive cruise control system, that would be used a lot more often than hill descent.

Agreed. Especially with how often I'm on the highway, it'll come in really handy.

Adaptive cruise control I find is drastically more appreciated than lane keeping assist and all of that other nonsense.

It sure is but both are just as important. The former for what owners want for easier commutes and then the latter for regulators since they are always looking for a way to improve safety, but even that is a selling point for car makers.

That's true... can't disagree with that. Anyone have experience in any vehicles that utilize this tech yet ?

I'm much too paranoid to relinquish control of the car even if the system has been tested and is in mass production.

You can always monitor it in ways where if the system fault at some point you can easily step in to correct it.

Often with changes people have that skepticism when they haven't tired it. I bet some hours in a car with this tech will have you used to it.

Naturally you'll adapt to it with use, it's just what happens. I can imagine people were saying the same thing when the standard cruise control systems first came out.

At the end of the day, you're not going to turn it on and close your eyes. Once you're aware, you can always override it and regain full control of the vehicle.
