1977 Bronco Visits Jay Lenos Garage

Just wanted to share this video of a bone stock 1977 Bronco. Its a great little video that gives you a history of the platform and just how barebones it was originally designed to be. There are some custom aftermarket gauges and some modern amenities such as a radio and air conditioning.

It's for this reason that Ford needs to be careful not to go too overboard with modernizing the new Bronco. Though obviously it will have more standard luxury features, it still needs to retain that classic rugged feel.

As long as its a solid Jeep Wranlger/Toyota FJ Cruiser rival then no one will complain.

Best of all it can gain a high volume of sales for most of its production timeline.

Aside from it having to offer similar levels of performance, Bronco enthusiasts are also going to want to have customization options. I know Ford has hinted at a removeable top and doors, but what about a soft top or half doors?

Hopefully with that will come other lifestyle related changes.

Toyota's TJ concept had some going on integrated as multi-use features. A lot of them very practical in production.

Hopefully aftermarket manufacturers can provide these kinds of accessories if Ford doesn't. Fingers crossed that they provide plenty of options directly from factory, so people can spec the new Bronco exactly to their liking. Think we'll see an Eddie Bauer trim one day?

It would be neat to see a heritage edition like that, but I doubt we'll see any throwback trims on release. With such a growing demand for performance SUV's, I would imagine that we'll see quite a diverse set of powertrain options. Anyone think there's a chance we'll see the 5.0 Coyote V8?

Well Ford just recently threw the Raptor engine in the limited edition of the F150, so I don't see why they wouldn't consider the Mustang engine for the new Bronco. That would have to come with an upgraded suspension and brake package though.

Putting the 3.5 Ecoboost in the F150 makes no sense imo. There is far more to the Raptor than just the engine its using. That powertrain has also been tuned for performance, so I'm sure it wont nearly be as capable with towing and hauling.
