Bronco Rendered as a 4X4 Wrangler Rival

So some new renderings just appeared online, which showcase what a true Wrangler rival variant should look like. Have to admit that I really like the design, and I hope this is closer to what we see in production than what's been shown with the Baby Bronco teasers. Although we're likely to see something utility focused, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for the off road variant.

The general shape and off-road performance look does make it a Wrangler rival, especially with those knobby tires and the lifted body. But why the angry eye headlight conversion? It just makes the front look like something from the Cars movie and takes away from how aggressive the vehicle truly looks.

The headlight design is actually inspired from aftermarket cowls that currently available on the Wrangler. I don't really understand the need for that look either. But hopefully Ford does look to take other design cues from the Wrangler, like a removable top and higher stock suspension.

What matters are the parts hidden under that body; axles, suspension, springs, etc. As is, these renderings look like they can be strong Wrangler contenders and they look unique compared to the large amount of cloned SUV/crossovers out there. Throw in that dual tone orange paint option and I'll be first in line.

Lets just hope that the new Bronco retains the boxy styling from its predecessor. I actually didn't mind the look of their concept from a couple years ago. Any idea's why they went back to the drawing board?

I didn't mind the looks of this concept either, but perhaps it was too complicated/expensive to manufacture? I really hope that we see similar stock wheels on the redesigned model. This thing already looks fairly capable off road.

The covered prototype looks quite boxy though I doubt to the extend of the old concept from a few years ago. At least we can still see an angular roof and large wheel arches, similar to the renderings if you take out the hood bump.

I like the angle with design in those two rendering which remind me a lot of vehicles in the Dakar Racing Series. If thats what Ford is after then they're on the right track.

Does it not also look like there is some sort of spare tire on the rear? I guess if they really hope to take on the Wrangler, that they can't afford to be lacking any similar features. I hope its still off center like it was in the classic model.

I take it as a "normal" thing in this segment. It just so happens that for decades the Wrangler had it meanwhile other car makers sat on the sidelines. Over recent years Toyota's FJ Cruiser had a rear mount tire:
