Could These Be the Bronco's Engines?

These what Ford offers in the world market Ranger. If they do share a platform, these are likely similar to what Ford will offer shoppers. drop the 2.2 for the 2.3 ecoboost is my bet... and trade the 2.7 eco for the 2.2 diesel. I can see Ford giving it the I5 diesel.

The new Ford Ranger that you can't have

Three engines are offered—two turbodiesels and one gas engine. The diesels are a 3.2-liter 5-cylinder producing 197 hp/347 lb-ft and a 2.2-liter four that delivers 158 hp/284 lb-ft. The gasser is a 2.2L that generates 164 hp and 166 lb-ft.

You think they'll drop the 2.2 gas for eco boost?

Hard to say if those engines are what NA is going to get because according to roadandtrack, the new Ford Ranger won't be available in NA.
What did Ford release in NA that's equipped with the 2.3 ecoboost?

LOL what article are you reading? because just 2 weeks ago word came out that the UAW would be building the Ranger in Michigan.

The 2.3 and 2.7 are both American market engines, they're already compliant with emissions and homologation...

Plus if the F150 already has it surely they will want to put it in something else and this new Bronco is ideal. Even looking back at what the new F150 was set to come out with, it was a good hint to Bronco expectations. Engines and various components have to be shared to some extent, always.

Nothing wrong with EcoBoost, turbo and direct injection along with variable camshafts would be great for the Bronco. Just look at how competent it is in a pickup.

VCT is being used more widely now a days as well. Ford had nothing but a hiccup with the EcoBoost engine which is an easy fix. Great motors with a ton of potential to be built bigger and better.

The only real concern i've seen for EcoBoost engines in the F150 is if it will do a good job at making V8-power and by now that has been proven. By the way this is only the start, down the road as Ford tunes the engine more and makes certain changes, the power and torque numbers should climb.

The EcoBoost engines are extremely tunable as well, so end-users can always get work done for relatively cheap (power to buck wise) and have a pretty powerful engine.
