A 7 speed seems excessive for the projected size of the Bronco. I'm all for "excess" as much as the next guy but I can hardly see it needing a 6spd with a turbocharged engine of any size. Maybe it'll be an ultra-low first and 6 highway gears..??? I could swallow that pill. Although I'm not a manual car buyer. Ford's automatic transmissions have been pretty stellar, (in the Superduty lineup at least) since 03-ish. That is certainly an accomplishment they can taught over Chrysler. With the expectation that several reviewers are going to put the Bronco through its paces, especially off road right out of the gate, I'd think Ford would really do their homework on the entire drivetrain. But like any new production model, they're bound to be some bugs.
Still, with 7 gear choices mated to an Ecoboost, I would tend to think the ratio's would be almost redundant. I hope the automatic is not a 7 speed.
