2.7L Ecoboost V6 Ford Bronco

So from the leak, I thought this bit of information could be discussed, and that's the powertrain that is said to be coming with the Ford Bronco.

It's going to be a 2.7L Ecoboost V6 engine, that engine is also coming in the upcoming Ford Ranger so that makes sense.

The engine as it is pushes out 325hp @ 5000rpm and 375lb-ft of torque @ 2750rpm in the 2018 F-150 at the moment, so that's actually not too bad at all. The peak torque is sort of low-mid range so that should be a nice amount of get up and go for city commuting when you drop the pedal enough for it to downshift.

Do you think that's enough power for the Bronco?

Well right now the closest thing we have to refer to is the new Ranger pickup.
It also comes with some lower displacement engines which plays in perfectly to this.
Easy to see how well this would pair with the Bronco, yet another good choice from Ford.

I think that's more than enough for the Bronco, what matters even more is where on the rpm range that power comes in.

good point and I think that's become even more true these days as car makers are creating more efficient transmissions and even drivetrains systems which all play in how we experience that power at the wheels.
too bad this is information we won't know till the vehicle is actually out.

I think this is the perfect engine to throw in the Bronco and the 2.7L Ecoboost has proven itself across Ford's lineup. There are also rumors of a Raptor variant of the Bronco for those who may be looking for higher performance.

I am with you on that because aside from a hybrid power plant, similar to what will be going in the F150 and Mustang, it will be the last good gasoline engine.
Hopefully they just launch both a hybrid and all gasoline engine from the start. We are stepping into the 2020's after all.

Its a smart move by Ford to share these powertrains amongst their lineup. It'll allow them to perfect it on one vehicle before implementing it in another. Luckily for us most hybrid set ups come with a decent boost to power with the additional electric motors.

It will get even better as they launch more exciting models under Lincoln. Already they seem off to a decent start with the Navigator. Smaller versions of that selling at volume could do them a lot of good.
