Bamboo Bronco Interior

Ford is looking at incorporating bamboo into the interior of their cars. Not a bad natural material to choose since it's pretty strong and flexible.. If they do mange to come out with a viable combination of plastic and bamboo, think we'll see it in the Bronco?

I can see them using it but probably not in the Bronco just yet. They're going to have to go through the obvious extensive testing and R&D and this would take a good amount of years. Longevity of it is another thing that they'll have to pay close attention to

Well, Ford is already pretty green with their materials even without bamboo and we'll probably see the same thing happen in the Bronco. The F-Series trucks uses soybeans and post-industrial recycled cotton in their upholstery. I guess next on their list are the plastics.

Didn't know about that soybean thing. So this just makes sense then in that case. It's evident that they've been developing that green thumb thing and it's making a lot of people happy, especially in this day and age.

Going green is great for a car's carbon footprint, but the materials will still need to pass safety tests especially plastic pieces in dashboards that can splinter in case of impact.

For sure, it just works out overall. Costs less, makes people happy, re-usable, the list goes on.

Lexus has been using Bamboo and last I checked they were one of the first. So Ford is just following in their lead, much easier when the other guy figures it out

Had to look it up and Lexus is using it in their CT speakers for a better sound. That's an interesting shift from what I consider a conventional use of bamboo in a car.

Ahh just read into that. Apparently Panasonic really had to persuade them because Lexus wasn't fully on board with it lol
